Education:
College degree (BS or higher) in a technical discipline (e.g. computer science, engineering, computer engineering)
Job functions:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Linux-based network appliance products as a principal member of our Engineering team.
- Provide expertise in relevant technologies, such as Linux development, network and system security, networking, firewalls and NAT, and general best practices.
- Work closely with other developers, QA, Presales, and Technical Support to ensure high quality products, and to resolve customer issues.
- Participate in design reviews and product testing, as assigned. Develop and review documentation, as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Expert knowledge of C/C++ Unix/Linux development and administration including: gcc, gdb/kdb, bash, make, Subversion, cygwin, lilo, grub, SSL, SSH
- Network programming and file system internals expertise including: low-level TCP/IP, firewalls, NAT, security, encryption, Linux internals and packet filtering (iptables), OpenVPN
- Successful history of designing, developing, and documenting robust software for Linux-based systems. Proven experienced in software engineering best practices (SDLC) and test driven development
- Familiar with open source Linux development including kernel modifications and manually building the Linux kernel.
- Resourceful problem solver with the ability to multitask among projects with tight deadlines.
- 5+ years of work experience.
- Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communications skills.
- Leadership qualities: Integrity, attention to detail, timeline sensitive, goal oriented, motivator
- Ability and desire to learn new technologies rapidly and thoroughly, and to communicate complex ideas and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Desired Skills:
- Embedded Linux development background a plus
- Experience with: Java/J2EE, JBoss, Apache, Perl, Python, Lua, Tcl, MySQL, SQLite, Wireshark, Valgrind, Eclipse
- Familiarity with Network Management tools such as OpenNMS or HP Openview
- Positive, energetic, “can do” attitude.
- Current knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies, including hardware, software, protocols, tools, etc.
